Hearts in Service (Visitation Ministry)
What do you do and why do you love this ministry?
We minister to the sick, elderly and homebound sharing Jesus’ love. We do this by bringing them a lap blanket, handmade and prayed over, by some folks at bcc on our initial visit. We also bring coffee, treats, take them out to eat (if possible), or bring a meal to them.
Sometimes we just visit or play a game with them. We read scripture and pray with them for any requests/needs they may have. We also have a person who’s available to do simple handyman needs when requested. I love the contact and good friendships we can have with these dear ones; blessing them and we are so blessed in return. It can become lonely for the sick or shut-in folks and a friendly visit is much appreciated by them.
What days and times do you serve? We usually try to visit each person at least once per month. Normally, visits are done during the day although days and times vary with their time schedules and ours as well.
What would you like a person wanting to help out in your ministry to know? Making contacts and appointments can sometimes be challenging, but the connections and friendships made over time greatly outweigh the challenges. All of us on the team agree we are so blessed.
